I was at first a bit unclear as to how tinning the vortex worked from inside, but obviously you just scoop some up and close/solder the lid. (If a panel had shown him killing the vortex, it would've made more immediate sense.)

That said, this is an excellent reference to the past, and I love that. It's pretty funny on its own merits, too. "EUREKA!" may have been a bit much, though.

Vortices don't corpses, do they? This would be the only way to do it, I think.

Also, wasn't the battery joke done before, in the old DD?

There was probably something about a battery, but I don't remember anything like this.

For the record, the old joke was that batteries hadn't been invented yet, and thus Sting was useless.
