So much work went into this comic...and I totally don't get it. Something about reincarnation?

It's the seven deadly sins: Gluttony, Sloth, Pride, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Envy. The last one is a little less obvious because it's a phonetic monster-glyph joke (NV = envy). A better title/alt-text for this might have been 'Se7en' after that old movie, though perhaps that'd be a bit too on-the-nose.
