J - a roll of Zombie Paper.
Well, at least this actually did something, that pencil eraser didn't even blank scrolls

I'll start the "I don't get it."

Oh, this is very obscure. It's an EarthBound reference. Partway through that game, when you need a way to take out zombies, a guy (not a demon) does exactly what the demon does in the strip...to Ness. So you get the item you need.

Originally, it was funny because the delivery guy was right on the mark without knowing it - this is also funny because he's so far off the mark (wrong game). Still, I wonder how many people will get it.

I appreciate the earthbound reference, but it's still a mediocre strip.

Edit: But the alt text made me chuckle.

Yep, it's just as Medandrea said. (and it's specifically a pizza guy who makes the delivery, which jogged my memory) I also always loved this scene in EB because something about asking him to make a delivery to "some kid named Ness who's wandering around Threed" is hilarious to me. It sounds a bit similar to what the mail daemon does, making deliveries to some adventurer named X wandering around the Dungeons of Doom.

I can't in all fairness vote this under G, especially after mijae's remarks. Maybe I'm just too fond of obscure Japanese titles (though Earthbound is only obscure to us westerners because it was only released in Japan).

Ever played Super Smash Bros (any of them) and wondered "Who the freaking hell is this Ness kid and why do I hate him so much?" Well, Ness wasn't annoying enough, so they brought in Lucas for Brawl, not just because they're sadistic games developers who hate their customers but because Earthbound is really big in Japan.

M, because the only thing I got was EarthBound. (Also, the mail daemon in the strip and the mail daemon in the dialogue are different colors for some reason.)

@Sorceror: EarthBound was released in North America too (though not in Europe).

It wasn't released in Europe? Augh, that's terrible! But even in the US where it was released, I had a hell of a time getting friends to try such a "kiddy-looking" game.

Mother 3 didn't make it to the US either, but the fan translation patch is incredibly well done. You should all go play it now if you haven't already!

I loved the zombie paper scene.

I guess this would do exactly what the duct tape didn't...

I've submitted two new strips, both of which have been scheduled.
