SporkHack crashing
Battlehaven - April 04, 2010 12:01AM

When I first started playing SporkHack, I'd get dropped from games pretty constantly just from going up and down levels on stairs. When I try to continue the game, it says there's already a game under my process and asks if I want to destroy it.

That problem seems to have large gone away, except that now I have a really good game going and it did it to me again. I stepped on a teleport square in a shop keeper's vault (to Fort Ludios) and it dropped me again.

Is there a way to resurrect my game? It's not a stale process that asks me to continue, it says there's already a game in progress and won't let me continue it.

Unfortunately, the version of Spork on NAO has a bug that
occasionally causes this. It's been fixed in newer Spork,
but I haven't had time to update NAO. Not to mention
updating Spork will break savefiles.

I've recovered your game.

Another crash :(
Battlehaven - April 22, 2010 04:28PM

My game crashed when I attempted to quaff a blessed diluted potion of gain energy. Would it be possible to get this game recovered? It's one of the furthest SporkHack games I've gotten going.

Looks like my game was lost. :(

There's nothing to be recovered. Sorry :(

Yet another crash...
Battlehaven - May 02, 2010 06:46PM

Crashed again. I was going down the stairs to possibly the lowest level. I hope it doesn't mean my game is not beatable. I'm so close to ascending for the first time in SporkHack.

Recovered.

Dang it, it crashes when I go down the stairs...

Dang it, it crashed again when I went down the stairs. Guess I've reached a critical bug in that version.

I guess I'll start a new game on the new build, hopefully it'll work. I was so close. :(

I believe there's a 50% chance it crashes in your situation when you go down the stairs. I've recovered it, so you can keep trying =)

Blam! Fwish! Ka-Boom!
Tormuse - September 06, 2010 04:02AM

I was just playing Sporkhack, (and doing very well; down to dungeon level 45) when suddenly, I got a message saying "Oops! press space to continue." When I pushed space, a message flashed on the screen that said something like "Suddenly, the dungeon collapses..." (it flashed by too quickly for me to read) and then it dumped me back to the log-in screen. When I tried playing again, it just started a new game. I wasn't doing anything unusual at the time; the last thing I did was hit the tail of a long worm.

Could my game be recovered? My user name is Tormuse

Thanks.

The "Suddenly, the dungeon collapses" message occurs when there's an internal error in the program and the game "panics." This is treated as an end-of-game, and so, unfortunately, there shouldn't be anything left to recover.

Is there anything I can do to help prevent this? This makes the fourth time Sporkhack has crashed on me. :-(

Other than refraining from playing SporkHack or helping to fix the bugs in it, I don't think you can do anything about it.

Well, I don't have the coding knowledge to fix the bugs and I'm too addicted to stop playing, so I guess I'm stuck. :-P

There definitely seems to be an issue with the long worm code. I just played again and got an error message when I hit the tail of a long worm saying something like, "No tail segment at [coordinates]."

Yes, long worms are buggy. That's why we removed them from the SVN version, but that version isn't playable at the moment due to some other changes.

Game crashed
Flappy - July 18, 2010 02:49AM

My game crashed today as I was riding a silver dragon on my way out with the Amulet around level 17 or so. Would it be possible to recover my game? Thanks.

I don't see anything to recover for you.
Sorry. :(
