(Might be a bit late, you've probably either ascended or died by now...) AC's lower than I'd be happy with post-castle. Round up some enchant scrolls and boost it up a bit, and/or buy protection at a temple. -25AC would be bare minimum I'd be comfortable with, I usually end up with ~-40AC, people minmaxing can get -50 or more. Enchant up either Mjollnir or Excalibur to +7 if possible. If yo

Ah, that would at least explain why I couldn't find it. Thanks

Just started playing this variant, I like the look of it so far. I keep seeing mentions online of there being an autoexplore command akin to DCSS, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Is this correct, and how do you set it off?

Just curious as to the possibility of this, really. Love having Spork there as another option, are there any plans to host SLASH'EM or Unnethack?

An even later answer... This does work with chests/boxes. There's nothing to stop you dumping a corpse in these, and locking it. I seem to remember you even get a rattling noise when they revive (Ice boxes, they might not even get the chance, I'd guess). Favorite disposal method myself is dumping them in a body of water. You even get to see them drown next turn.

1. It's about speed. You can't carry an infinite amount of items, especially before you get a BoH. And there's going to be a lot of stuff you don't need instant access to. Spellbooks would be a good example; a wizard might end up with dozens, each of which you remember for thousands of turns. And they're damned heavy to carry around. Being burdened or worse as you explore is the best way to get y

Just wanted to thank you for this; currently playing a Barbarian and it's so much less hassle. Hopefully this might get back to the dev team and go in the next version.

Many, many more choices in terms of artifact weapons. Artifact a

My stupidest one of late was choking to death on a tin of spinach. On the plane of Earth. And not noticing I wasn't wearing an AoLS.

I seem to recall that bell/book/candle/AoY can't actually be kept in containers? So if you stone someone, wouldn't they force their way out of the statue?

Just curious if there's any way I'm missing of stripping it down to a basic tty interface. Running it on a Psion Netbook Pro, and I've played too long on NAO to be dealing with all this windows fooferfaw. Not to mention it's kinda glitchy at times at throwing up the relevant windows. Yes, I've tried OPTIONS=windowtype:tty. It gives it a few conniptions and then runs as normal. Any other ideas

Don't really have a preference. I'm at the point (other than for working on my stats on NAO) of picking 'y' when it asks if I want the game to pick a random r/c/g at the start. Fond of Valks, as one was my first ascension, and barbarians for just hitting crap. I perversely like tourists, because despite the lack of weaponskills etc. I seem to do well with them. On the other hand, despite likin

Con goes up mostly from making sure you're not hungry; stay at no message or satiated for a while (such as when you're going through the mines). Strength will also go up from pushing boulders around. If you're weak, sokoban might be a better place to visit first than the mines.
