Pure gold.

#2 mightytater Tue, 13 Apr 2010 03:02:37
Love the pose in frame 5

#3 Sorceror Tue, 13 Apr 2010 03:45:09
Come to think of it, is it trying to imply that the "lens flare" is from the wand of lightning, or is it just reflecting off the looking glass every nymph carries?

#4 eskimo68 Tue, 13 Apr 2010 06:27:19
The last one is scaring away a newt, right? Quite a novel way to sneak in a newt joke so E.

#5 anther Tue, 13 Apr 2010 22:24:57
What's with the strange objects in the back? Are those supposed to be the photo printing machines?

And where are the scrolls of charging?

Still E.

#6 mijae Thu, 15 Apr 2010 13:20:22
You guessed it, anther. Photo printing machines can be very strange... ambiguous lightning/mirror lens flare was by accident, though.

#7 NorthBus Thu, 15 Apr 2010 17:35:08
Heh... took me three reads to realize that the newt in panel six was not just dust on my monitor. Yay, E.

#8 Anonymous Mon, 19 Apr 2010 20:52:10
Hmm, maybe a dark-colored yellow would have made realise there was something in the last panel.
Still, excellent.

#9 Sorceror Mon, 19 Apr 2010 22:42:05
Except that the lens cap is still on.

#10 Anonymous Tue, 20 Apr 2010 03:38:14
I think the joke in the last strip is that he is so afraid of newts that he started using the camera while it was well out of range

#11 Sorceror Tue, 20 Apr 2010 06:26:20
No, the joke in the last frame is that he only cares about the flash, not the pictures, so he couldn't be bothered taking off the lens cap.

#12 Slandor Tue, 20 Apr 2010 12:50:59
No, the thing about the lens cap is a lie he's telling to excuse what he did. Post #10 is right. my opinion. Of course, the thing about great art is that it's open to multiple interpretations.

#13 Sorceror Tue, 20 Apr 2010 14:48:37
Why does Dudley need to make excuses? In fact, if the flash doesn't extend far enough to show what's in the frame, then it was just a waste of an exposure.

Lens cap is on.

#14 Anonymous Tue, 20 Apr 2010 21:14:46
There's a newt in the picture, the lens cap can't be on.

#15 Anonymous Wed, 21 Apr 2010 03:42:23
Exactly. Lens cap is off. He just can't admit he panniced when he saw a newt.

#16 anther Wed, 21 Apr 2010 06:36:09
Come to think of it, this reminds me of

#17 mijae Wed, 21 Apr 2010 06:43:22
anther: I never heard of that patch before, that sounds awesome!

#18 anther Thu, 22 Apr 2010 04:10:54
My favorite thing about it is that the Wizard of Yendor leaves a glossy autographed photo when you kill him the first time.

#19 Sorceror Thu, 22 Apr 2010 12:32:20
Is it a wishable item, or do you just get "a glossy forged autograph photo of a Wizard of Yendor cosplayer"?

#20 Anonymous Thu, 22 Apr 2010 17:54:51
You now leave me with a disturbing desire to cosplay Rodney at GenCon next year.

#21 Sorceror Fri, 23 Apr 2010 00:02:42
#20: "You now leave me with a disturbing desire to cosplay"
^ Fixed.

#22 anther Fri, 23 Apr 2010 03:09:00
What does the Wizard even look like, anyway?

#23 Quint Fri, 23 Apr 2010 04:52:58
Big stupid @ symbol.

#24 Sorceror Fri, 23 Apr 2010 04:54:10
And purple, too.

Or you could use the graphics set for the Windows/GTK/QT/X11 clients as a basis.

#25 mijae Fri, 23 Apr 2010 10:42:53
I now have a disturbing desire to cosplay a big capital L just to spot fellow nethack players by watching who runs for the nearest stairway.

#26 Sorceror Mon, 26 Apr 2010 14:22:05
Two weeks and no comic. What's wrong with you guys?

#27 Quint Tue, 27 Apr 2010 04:16:45
The sign reads: "Welcome to Asidonhopo's shop! -more-
"I am currently out due to end-of-semester duties at the University of Yendor. -more-
"But don't you dare steal anything; -more-
"I have wands of striking installed to automatically zap you to death if you do."

#28 Anonymous Tue, 27 Apr 2010 10:16:14
Good thing I have magic resistance. Fire away, wands of striking.

#29 JackOfClubs Mon, 3 May 2010 16:51:46
The thumb obscuring the lens in panel 4 is the best part. "I was kind of in a hurry!"

#30 DarthCliche Sun, 16 May 2010 15:32:04
At first I thought that each monster photographed would be made of its own symbol, since the outline of the soldier ant is made of a and Dudley's thumb is filled with @.

#31 DarthCliche Mon, 17 May 2010 00:51:50
(Also, a "camera shop" might easily be created that sells cameras and scrolls of charging.)
