By panel 2 (counting from 0, as always), I was really hoping for something other than a newt. There are plenty of alternatives. A band of soldier ants would've worked great.
The footnote, on the other hand, is pretty amusing.
The Crawl one should have been Sigmund. (And soldier ants for NetHack.) I'm not sure about Angband; it's probably better to give the threats that are most threatening for where in the game they appear.
NobodySpecial: But how do you know that the tree has fallen if you can't hear it?
Sorry, Shroedinger wins.

@ais523: No, Sigmund is actually quite easy to beat when you do some VERY basic preparation: Non-Wizard: 1. Get some stones or similar, these are easy to find. 2. Quiver them. 3. Fire them at Sigmund. 4. Use healing potions when necessary.
Wizard is a bit easier: 1. Level up a bit on Dungeon:1 so you can cast Magic Dart. 2. If you can, memorise Mephitic Cloud. 3. Use Magic Dart (and Mephitic Cloud if you have it) against Sigmund.

Sorry, wizard step 1 should be: 1. Level up a bit on Dungeon:1 so you can cast Magic Dart reliably.

The other site seems to have been taken by "Oregon Trail of Tears".

[anal retentive is an internal pun, a game called personality poker has a card with that label and people always ask what the heck it means :]
