A strip of paper can't make you choke to death, but funny nevertheless.

Maybe the idea was that Dudley choked to death on the cookie before having a chance to look inside? Anyhow, if this is funny (beyond the rare death of choking on a FC) then I don't get it.
The Idea was originally that he choked over the scrap of paper. Sorry for the misleading gravestone text

Yeah, "food" = scrap of paper is something of a stretch. (Meanwhile this comment and #2 both required me to answer "What symbol represents a grave?")

Not in Nethack, unless there's been some new diet patch beyond what's described in nethackwiki.com/wiki/Diet . What player classes or monsters should be papyrivores?
Anon #6 asks: "What player classes or monsters should be papyrivores?"
Maybe we need a new monster for this: the bookworm! Does little damage in melee but eats scrolls and spellbooks that it finds before you, or maybe tries to steal them from your open inventory and eat them. Of course the Book of the Dead must be immune, and probably also Scare Monster.

Well, there is already a hallucinatory monster called the "bookworm", so if only the Wizard was deprived of one of his 87 scrolls of genocide... https://alt.org/nethack/dudley/?726

Well, a gelatinous cube already can eat items, but the bookworm is still an interesting idea...
