I think that's a pretty small study of only 40 alteehts! IMO you need a much larger field of participants in order to get more accurate results. It didn't say if that was 40 alteehts total or 40 out of xxx amount of runners.I do think that over training in endurance sports can lead to later complications but again the study didn't clarify if any of these alteehts had any other prior indicators of heart issues which some folks wouldn't know unless checked for. So it's hard to say.
