I wish it were that easy!

#2 FeralCat Mon, 3 May 2010 02:28:40
If Mario just entered the game, how does he have enough inventory so the amulet is assigned to q?

#3 Sorceror Mon, 3 May 2010 03:48:15
FeralCat: clearly the starting inventory for Italian Plumber class is full of turtle shells and shrooms.

#4 Thvor Mon, 3 May 2010 12:49:23
Hrm...that could be interesting to play, actually. Every 100 coins you get a new "oLS, but then the 100 coins disappears. Unable to carry more than 99 coins at a time would eliminate protection...

Of course, for an evil twist: plumbers shouldn't be able to walk into monsters, but should be able to do combat solely through #jumping or spells (fireball being their favored spell, naturally)...hrm, what else?

#5 CuleX Mon, 3 May 2010 12:53:10
Every kind of mushroom-like monster corpse is edible without any drawbacks and restores a bit of HP. At full HP, they learn the fireball spell for free.

#6 DarthCliche Mon, 3 May 2010 15:47:29
Huh, you can rate your own strips. (I'll remove my rating right away, though.)

Plumbers can normally jump one square away. After eating some types of fungus, this increases to two squares. Then, every time they encounter a fungus corpse of that type, it appears as a sunflower, and eating it provides a spell-like-ability along the lines of wand of fire with #monster. This fire beam bounces, and hits everything in the air in odd-numbered squares and everything on the floor in even-numbered squares.

Dudlio, killed by a goomba

#9 mijae Tue, 4 May 2010 13:42:46
Some new plumber-themed armor could be a cloak that allows a few turns of flight after a jump, a fuzzy suit that allows you to transform into a statue and back when #invoked (should this count as a possible cockatrice cure? hmmm...), and another full suit of armor that is described as a single shoe for some reason.

You can't. You need a 27b-6.

@Thror: Who cares if you can't buy protection? You have thousands of amulets of life saving.

I remember having seen a Mario comic before, come to think of it -- back on the old site. But I can't find it.

#16 Quint Thu, 6 May 2010 00:36:21
I think there have been a few. One not too long ago involving an ASCII rendition of mario level elements, and another a while back using Mario gameplay elements I think.

#17 neovigo Thu, 6 May 2010 10:41:27
Yeah, and he needs to kill the mighty, formidable Koopa of Yendor.

#18 Sorceror Thu, 6 May 2010 10:48:58
There was that Donkey Kong comic ...

#19 Quint Thu, 6 May 2010 17:53:40
The Bridge-Chopping Ax might be the quest artifact.

#20 Anonymous Thu, 6 May 2010 18:29:52
@anther: Yeah, there were two on the old site, one in which Mario jumps into a sink and ends up in a vault and another in which he walks around a floating eye, destroying it and getting some gold.

#21 DarthCliche Thu, 6 May 2010 18:30:28
Er, sorry, that was me.

#22 DarthCliche Thu, 6 May 2010 18:36:34
@CuleX: I assume that by "mushroom-like monster" you mean anything represented by F?

#23 CuleX Fri, 7 May 2010 07:49:34
Pretty much, yeah.

#24 anther Sat, 8 May 2010 03:41:14
Yes, the sink one. You have a better memory than I do, it appears.

#25 Sorceror Sun, 9 May 2010 01:59:30
... or a better search engine ...

I've submitted another strip.

I'm gonna make LeadHack now. (Lead = Pb = Plumbum; it sounds better than PlumberHack)

Oh, it's also on the top 10 most commented strips - and much closer to the top. After this comment it should be at #4, and 1, 2, and 3 are all tied at 32 comments.
