And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you turn off autopickup (except when Sokoban generates nice stuff on top of holes).

Took me a minute to figure out this is trapping. Duh (even Slandors comment didn't make me see the connection which is emabarrasing considering the last panel :).

Set autopickup to only pick up gold pieces, nothing else.

As you pick up the gold, a ghostly wind rolls the corpse onto your hand! You turn to stone . . .

I don't understand why this trap is a joke. Unless sociopathy is what's meant to be the humor.

My original version of this involved cursed -5 gauntlets of fumbling and an actual joke, but I decided that it was actually funnier like it is now. (No, the joke wasn't a very good one.)

Of all the item classes I could auto-pickup, I think % would probably the be the last.

#8 Quint Mon, 29 Jun 2009 19:53:44
slowpoke: yes, the comedic sociopathy is the point.

It also took me a while to get. Thanks for the help, Slandor.

Rated M due to insufficiently many invisible minotaurs.

#10 Sorceror Fri, 28 Aug 2009 12:24:29
Voted E, even though it doesn't deserve it, but I can't disturb the 3456 of the other ranks.

You know what's even more cruel?

Hiding it under a stack of wands of wishing.

Or, hell, under a blessed greased +127 GDSM, the blessed greased +50 Grayswandir, the blessed greased +50 Stormbringer, etc.

I keep my auto pickup on $/!"_=? Which means I won't accidentally Gluck a trice corpse.

Oops, touch not gluck. Stupid iPod keyboard.0

#16 grisha5 Fri, 22 Apr 2016 04:12:52
I don't get it..

#17 Anonymous Mon, 11 Dec 2017 23:34:04
I didn't get it at first because I always have autopickup exceptions configured to not pick up corpses
