At least she wasn't performing for Pestilence.

#2 Sorceror Wed, 17 Feb 2010 02:43:31
M for a reference to such a terrible song. +1 for killing Britney Spears.

#3 Quint Wed, 17 Feb 2010 05:27:22
F, G'd only for insulting Britney Spears.

#4 BreathOfSorrows Wed, 17 Feb 2010 05:32:12
I couldn't resist doing so.

#5 Sorceror Wed, 17 Feb 2010 06:49:37
The song is PAINFUL. Please remove it from my brain.

#6 canidae Wed, 17 Feb 2010 12:22:11
Poor, because I bloody can't get the song out of my head.
You just made an enemy, BOS!
grumble

#7 NobodySpecial Wed, 17 Feb 2010 12:48:06
Apparently Spears is so wimpy that Dudley can kill her in one hit.

#8 BreathOfSorrows Wed, 17 Feb 2010 17:10:24
Would you guys have preferred Miley Cyrus instead? Or maybe the one with the terrible stage name, Lady GaGa?

Hmm... Automatic E to anyone who can use Lady GaGa's true crazyness in a Dudley strip.

#10 mijae Wed, 17 Feb 2010 18:45:55
Lady GaGa might make a good hallucination monster.

#11 Quint Wed, 17 Feb 2010 19:04:49
You start singing "Poker Face". -more-

The Wizard of Yendor flees in terror!

#12 BreathOfSorrows Wed, 17 Feb 2010 19:21:57
Perhaps she could be a playable character?

Hello, Lady GaGa, welcome to Nethack! You are a neutral female pop star.

And her singing could be a weapon, as Quint puts it.

Hm, a pop star class would be interesting. Starting equipment could include "a songbook of cause fear".

Of course, you wouldn't ever be able to sing, because that would summon purple worms ;)

#14 Anonymous Wed, 17 Feb 2010 22:38:04
Actually, in some variants of Angband, you can play as a bard, who can sing and uses songbooks.

#15 Sorceror Thu, 18 Feb 2010 00:05:31
#14: The closest to a bard that the "pop singer" class could get is Cacofonix from the Asterix books.

#16 Slandor Thu, 18 Feb 2010 01:19:47
You don't want to take on the Spice Girls in melee combat, anyway.

#17 Sorceror Thu, 18 Feb 2010 05:23:57
Slandor: I'm sure I could take them if NetHack had deafness as well as blindness.

#18 Quint Thu, 18 Feb 2010 09:25:56
You start singing "Poker Face". -more-

The Wizard of Yendor flees in terror! The aleax flees in terror! The baluchitherium flees in terror! -more-

You summon Joey Wheeler! Joey Wheeler corrects you! "Nyeh!" You feel you would be aggravated at Joey Wheeler if you were in New York City.

#19 TJR Thu, 18 Feb 2010 11:41:41
Wouldn't Spears look like a succubus?

#20 Sorceror Thu, 18 Feb 2010 12:19:26
TJR: Either that or a shrieker.

#21 Slandor Thu, 18 Feb 2010 14:00:14
Sorceror: No seriously, they will EAT YOUR BRAINS.

(The Spice Girls are a bunch of mind flayers/master mind flayers on the SLASH'EM Lawful Quest. Actually, because of where they are deployed, it's not so hard to drop a gold piece on an Elbereth and take them out from range, particularly because I had a weapon that did burst damage.)

#22 BreathOfSorrows Thu, 18 Feb 2010 18:57:44
Slandor's right. There are 3 mind flayers and 2 master mind flayers in the Lawful Quest that are named after them.

#23 minmay Thu, 18 Feb 2010 20:05:15
If only this were Dungeon Crawl - we could use the Silence spell.

#24 Sorceror Fri, 19 Feb 2010 00:54:01
Slandor: Remind me to never play SLASH'EM. :P

... wait, does SLASH'EM have sound?

It does not

#26 Sorceror Fri, 19 Feb 2010 02:53:09
Hmm, it might just be tolerable to fight Spice Girls then.

I still think that a "pop singer" class would summon purple worms.

#27 BreathOfSorrows Fri, 19 Feb 2010 03:25:24
Yes, that would be problematic. Perhaps if the pop singer were to begin with a scroll of genocide? That could take care of the purple worm issue.

#28 Sorceror Fri, 19 Feb 2010 12:17:23
BreathOfSorrows: but given their maximum intelligence, it'd be unlikely for them to read it correctly.

#29 BreathOfSorrows Fri, 19 Feb 2010 18:11:53
Sorceror: Very true, very true. They might read it like they were confused, or send some in as if it were cursed

#30 Sorceror Sat, 20 Feb 2010 01:27:19
BreathOfSorrows: If they read it as if it were cursed, then surely that would cause them to shreik too. You could end up summoning 50 purple worms before the first one hits ;)

#31 BreathOfSorrows Sat, 20 Feb 2010 09:01:57
Sorceror: Haha yeah, along with the pline, "Thy audience hath been summoned, Dame." Oh well, least they could say that they had "fans" in there, regardless of whether their "fans" wanted to eat them or not.

#32 DarthCliche Fri, 6 Aug 2010 02:38:26
P for Britney Spears. +1 for insulting her. +1 for killing her. +1 for insulting that song. +1 because I'm in a generous mood today.

#33 DarthCliche Tue, 30 Nov 2010 00:43:07
-1 because the generous mood is over. +1 because it creates symmetry.

#34 Pteriforever Fri, 11 Feb 2011 01:34:47
fixed smmetry to 5-5-5-5-5.
