xCheckPoint, I think that comes to your mind because 408 -> 4 + 0 + 8 = 12, and also 345 -> 3 + 4 + 5 = 12, thus they are very similar.

Orl -- it should be "Linux" without the "a" -- "Linux" refers to the operating system, not the machine, which is called a Linux box. "Linux box" is to "Linux" as "Mac" is to "OS X" and "PC" is to "DOS" or whatever they're calling it these days. At least I think that's the problem, I don't know that much about computers.

A PC is a computer (originally classified a "Personal Computer" by IBM, then cloned by a bunch of better companies into "PC-Compatibles").

A Mac is a computer, but is only distinct from "PC" because of Apple's marketting campaign. There was a time once when the distinction meant something - Apple computers had different processors.

Linux installs on both. :)

It's not a matter of offending Linux users. We're not like Mac-fanboys. It's a gramatical thing.

Yeah it's ok you get the joke don't you.
Yes a Mac is a Personal Computer but (almost) everywhere "PC" stands for "a computer with Windows as operating system (for example on commercial programs. As a Mac user I wouldn't buy a program with "for PC" on the box).
And for "a Linux" I intended "a Linux [as operating system]" or "a [n operating system] Linux".
When I think I put that "Or maybe a Linux" for the sake of equality...

I assumed "a Linux" meant "a computer running Linux", since most people care most about the GUI they get from the OS anyway, and not the exact technical specs of their computer.

In any case, it's completely possible to install MacOS on a non-Apple computer and install Windows on an Apple computer and make both of them work.

Anyway, haven't I seen this joke before?

In that case, they should be running ‘a GNOME’ or ‘an X’ or something. (I'm using Firefox/GNOME/X/Gnu/Linux right now.)

Your other versions aren't grammatical either; try ‘a Linux operating system’. It really is just a technical grammar problem.
