Sequels are fun. Especially if it's a skilled player joke and not a newt one.

So Maud is a mind flayer?

#2 Sorceror Tue, 29 Dec 2009 00:33:05
Possibly a dwarf coloured purple by crushing a violet fungus?

#3 SmashFan2005 Tue, 29 Dec 2009 04:13:52
master mind flayer. I've watched some of his games and he's usually polymophed into a master mind flayer. Also, the dumplog of his 2508 turn ascension shows that he was indeed a MMF before offering the amulet.

So... he's mostly a MMF. But I have seen him as a Jabberwock and a Xorn(for the castle). The violet fungus was supposed to be a subtle joke about Dudley's brain.

Anyway yeah, another comic for applauding Maud. I don't know if 2508 is beatable or not. Probably not by much.

Oh and I thought it'd be nice to have Dudley kill a newt. For once...

There's an actual player named Maud?

So what are the prerequisites for making 2508? Finding poly control and poly early. Preferably a /oW is a must I suppose (speed boots etc). The Quest just must take some time, oh well, much depending on which class you are.

Must check if there is any thread in rgrn about this...?

Oh, and I actually got the purple h reference. Have only tried it once myself.

In case you're interested: Maud found three wands of wishing and hit two bones files that game (one of which had Demogorgon in...). Still, incredibly impressive; Maud still gets amazingly good times even without that sort of luck (sub-5000), just not quite that good. (And yes, Maud usually is a master mind flayer. Although, doing Gehennom as a Xorn is an amazing tactic; why solve mazes when you can just walk through the walls?)

Though I never understood why Xorns can pass walls and solid rock, but not floors or ceilings. That would be a nice trick to finish below 2000.

I would assume that even if phasing down were implemented, the mysterious force that prevents you from descending the stairs would also prevent you from phasing down, or the floor would become that phase-resistant kind of rock (currently used e.g. in the sanctum level).

"Maud usually is a master mind flayer."

That would explain why I forget about him.

Yes, I thought a mind flayer named Maud was a cute joke too. I actually thought that was SmashFan's doing to start with.

When I first saw it, I thought it said "I got crushed by another violet fungus" and that was Dudley speaking. He was crushed, so he was h (dwarf) and purple, which he got from Maud, who was being compared to the Wizard of Yendor. He first thought it was a violet fungus because that's also purple, and apparently violet fungi frequently fall on Dudley's head. Lastly, the "Bye" is goodbye to life.

Then I read the comments and understood it was Maud speaking.

At least it's an interesting interpretation.

This is great.

I completely forgot about this one. Who is Maud anyway?

#14 BreathOfSorrows Tue, 23 Feb 2010 11:51:19
Who was that Maud person anyway? Thinking of Maud, I forget everything else
