Could someone explain the joke? I don't get it.

I guess the soldier wanted to be able to wield a cockatrice corpse at will, and so created a glove golem that (when killed) would yield a plentiful supply of gloves. I'm not sure why more than one pair is necessary for the purpose though, unless in this variant of the dungeon one is allowed to wear multiple set of gloves so that even if a nymph steals one set you're still protected from the cockatrice corpse.

I expected much better from the build-up, which was solid. But the end was a major let down.

There is a knight with a rubber chicken in Monty Python's Flying Circus hitting people but i don't get it how it relates to that glove golem and stuff...
