I love this comic. I like the cluelessness of Dudley. Doesn't seem to know what LSD is, heh. Also, I like the sub-text.

But Holly shit. is not swearing! Holly shit consists of blighted holly leaves (as shown on http://www.davidcale.com/BlightedHollyLeaves_98.jpg in watercolour) that turn brown and fall (whereas holly is normally evergreen). The term comes straight from Old English, where shit was simply the normal term for feces, not considered obscene at all. Unfortunately, this phrase is falling out of favour now, thanks to the influence of ignorant prudes; most of the hits on Google are just misspellings. I don't see what it has to do with the comic, however. Maybe Dudley called his fruit holly and wants a potion of biologically contaminated <fruit> juice? Last edited: Mon, 6 Apr 2009 21:43:34
