I think you should have used . , which is the symbol for spat venom (see http://nethack.wikia.com/wiki/Venom ).

Other than that, I like the setup, but I don't get the joke.

The joke is really in the sub-text. He wasn't wearing gloves, so when he put the goggles on, he got it in his eyes (should have shown a "blind" panel in the last one).

M since I didn't get the joke until after 20min & a 4th reading. (I play w/tiles, where the "pair of lenses" tile looks like a pair of glasses. Took me quite awhile to realize the punchline was contact lenses...)
