could have easily retreated into the corridors and taken them one by one :p unless his HP was reeeeally low and he was like level 2 or 3, orcs are slow enough to not be a problem.

Not if he lacked poison resistance. Wait, do hill orcs carry poisoned arrows? I forget.

Hill orcs and Mordor orcs don't carry poison arrows. On the other hand there aren't any corridors for Dudley to flee to. In fact it looks like he might've been trying to get to one up north, but the RNG brought a bunch of Mordor orcs down that corridor to cut him off. One thing I've discovered is that orcs seem to like to pick up arrows. I was playing a ranger in the orc level of SLASH'EM, and every time I shot an arrow at an orc it picked it up instead of coming up and trying to hit me. I cleared pretty much the whole level without taking any damage except from wands of draining. (I realize that this post will anger the RNG.)

I'm reminded of how back when Gehennom was Hell, an AoLS would prevent you from teleporting down there if you didn't have fire resistance. This is a logical extension, if it considers the dungeon to be inescapable death for Dudley.
